Dr. Bautista joined Baylor College of Medicine at Cristus Health/Santa Rosa as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Senior Cardiovascular Surgeon in January 2021. He’s got expertise in congenital and acquired heart disease, including structural valve disease (valve repair and replacement), neonatal surgery, assist devices and transplantation.
Most recently, Dr. Bautista served as Director of the Congenital Heart Surgery Program and Associate Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Complejo Hospitalario Universitario A Coruña, Spain. Dr. Bautista received his medical degree and his PhD from Universidad de Murcia, Spain. He completed a 3- year fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
He is an active member of major surgical associations, including AATS, STS, EACTS and SECCE. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers which accumulate more than 1000 citations and has received the John Maxwell Chamberlain Award (STS) and the Young Investigator Award (EACTS) for his research.
